Is the Torah the Same as the Old Testament? or Did They Change Some Things?

Question by Crikey a Wild Ski Bum: is the Torah the same as the Old Testament? Or did they change some things?
I never really hear about Jews having to deal with the “kill gays with stones” or “beat your children” or “don’t wear polyester under penalty of death” parts.

Are those not in the Torah? If they are, how do Jews explain those away?

Best answer:

Answer by Wisdom
The Torah is the same as the OT, except they exlude a couple books such as Psalms and I think Proverbs.

Also, I ask the very same question about how Jews explain those verses. For if they still believe in the OT, wouldn’t they still follow the same laws? For its only until lthe NT, that I believe starts teaching that those OT laws don’t always apply to us anymore…

How Do I Stop My 7 Year Old From Lying?

Question by J?R?R: How do I stop my 7 year old from lying?
My daughter is only 7 and has a problem lying. It’s always about stupid things too that she probably wouldn’t of got in trouble for anyway.I’ve tried grounding her from tv,toys, everything.I’ve tried spanking her, putting her in the corner for as much as 2 hours.None of these things phase her because she is so stubborn. She is usually one of the best behaved kids I know, not saying that only because she’s my daughter but she’s kind, helps out a lot, other than lying, doesn’t really do anything bad.Any suggestions?
Oh,I do give her warnings by the way,I’ll tell her, tell me the truth or you will be grounded. And if she tells the truth and even if it was bad I won’t punish her.And she’s not afraid of me,I don’t “hit” her,I spank her butt.I don’t believe in child abuse.
