Is “Depth Psychology” Still Practiced Today? IS This Considered Just a Precurser to Modern Therapy?
Question by candi82: Is “Depth Psychology” still practiced today? IS this considered just a precurser to modern therapy?
I have been looking into Psychology, in particular, more of a Counseling Therapy. I have come across Depth Psychology, but I have no idea why or how this would be useful to get a degree in. Anyone know what this is, or if it is really relevant enough to major in, in the 21st Century?

I Wake Up Everyday Seeing No Bright Side in Life. ( Thinking to Suicide Tonight)?
Question by Lifeisfullofquestions: I wake up everyday seeing no bright side in life. ( Thinking to suicide tonight)?
Hey I feel like I live my life for no reason. I have no friends always been the quiet one in the group. My dad passed away couple of years ago ive been facing depression ever since and my mom recently passed away. Im a only child so i live alone in this lonely small apartment in NY, Queens. I cant talk to anyone because im scared to, i was diagonosed with social anxiety when i was 16 in high school by a therapist. I seen no improvements so i stopped going 2 months ago. I am not 19 years old just finished my first semester in college and did pretty well. But i don’t see any point of living life i have no one no friends or girlfriends basically no one to talk to. I was never thought social skills i guess. But anyways thank you for letting me vent, but im probably going to suicide tonight, i dont have no one.
Do You Think It Is Right for a Parent to Do This?
Question by Max: Do you think it is right for a parent to do this?
I stay up late every night. It is summer vacation, and I never have any plans unless a friend calls (which happens often). My family including me, my sister, mother, and father have never had a schedule. All of sudden my mom gets mad at me saying that needs to change but just for me. She says I am hurting my body (i get 10-12 hours of sleep) and that it is making me a bad person (it is not) and when ever I try to use logic in this argument she just yells at me saying that the logic is that she’s the parent. She now says I have to be to bed at 2AM. In bed, I don’t go out, I am in the house, this is not a curfew, it is a bedtime I have never had one before, and my mom has never cared about this before tonight. Also when I tried to tell her I would be waking up past noon no matter what (I am a teenager, everyone I know sleeps this late) she became very mad. (I am in highschool btw)
I’m not a “lazy young adult” I am very active. I also through eBay and the internet make many times more money then I could with a job at my age.

From Advocates for Youth:
“Adolescent birth rates in the United States are the highest among industrialized nations.1 At least 80 percent of teenage pregnancies are unintended, and three-fourths of these pregnancies occur to adolescent women who do not use contraception.1 Moreover, unprotected sexual intercourse places adolescents at risk of infection with sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), including HIV. In the United States, about one-fourth of all new STD infections occur among youth ages 15 to 19, and one-fourth of all new HIV infections occur in those under the age of 21.

My Ex Is Now Dating My “friend”..advice?
Question by Bella: My ex is now dating my “friend”..advice?
I’m 18 and he’s 17. We dated over a year and we broke up in the spring because it just wasn’t working I guess. We were each others first. He was too busy for me and he thought I was asking too much of him so he thought I was clingy and what not. When I wasn’t at all. We saw each other like once a week and barely texted and just got frustrated a lot. I was trying to be the best gf and did so much for him. He’s a laid back person where as I’m outgoing and like to treat my partner nice and take them out. He told me he wasn’t “ready” for a relationship and wasn’t gonna date again in high school….he went into this long thing saying he shouldn’t have gotten in a relatioship just yet..well I’m kinda mad he didn’t have the balls to tell me the the truth. His parents even said he wasn’t ready for a relationship. Cause he sucked as a bf!
