Need Advice for a 58 Yr. Old Male Friend Who Can’t Get Over His 2nd Wife’s Betrayl.?

Question by rosey: Need advice for a 58 yr. old male friend who can’t get over his 2nd wife’s betrayl.?
I am asking for male advice here,
prehaps from men the same age / and similiar experiences.
My friend had his wife (25 yrs. his junior)
leave him after 5 yrs. of marriage. (suddenly)
after he had put her through college.
Shewent onto be a very successful profesional.
He is a blue collar worker.

He can’t get over this. It’s been 5 yrs.
since their divorce.

He was married the first time for 20 yrs.
No problem w/ that closure.

I am not romantically interested in him , nor he
I.

I just would like to offer guidance if I could
…he talks about her all the time.
Doesn’t want to date.
(HE is very handsome, in shape, has financial
stability. )

No public school district will hire you as a “Guidance Counselor” without a Master’s Degree in counseling. This is a “state” requirement, your state grants credentials, or certifies you as having fulfilled the studies that prepare you for this difficult job.

What Are Some Alternatives to Saying “I’M Sorry for Your Loss”?

Question by penguinpwnge: What are some alternatives to saying “I’m sorry for your loss”?
My favorite teacher’s mom died Monday morning and I’m sure he’s heard a lot of “I’m sorries” or “i feel your loss”. how do i say my condolences without those trite, overused phrases?

sometimes just asking, how are you, or are you ok can be the kindest thing to do, it doesnt give them a constant reminder that they have lost a person they loved and it shows you care for the person’s feelings more than the generic ‘sorry for your loss.’ statement. because that is what that is: a statement, and a statememnt does not hold a conversation, or care for feelings, because its said and that’s it.. but a question gives the person a chance to open up (of course as he is your teacher he wont start crying on your shoulder or anything, but he will feel touched by your acknowlegement of what has happened and by your concern for his feelings.)
i hope this helps =]
