Answer by Night Wind
Your doctor is a good place to start. He can place you on some form of anti depressant and it’s amazing after the initial 2 to 3 weeks, how improved your life becomes. He can also refer you to a good counselor who can help you sort through the problems so they cease to exist or become manageable. The one thing you can’t do successfully is get over it on your own without help. You made a great choice to ask and it’s awesome that you recognize the depression exists in your life. Best wishes to you.

Is Student Support Services in a School System a Fancy Word for “School Psychologist”?

Question by Juicy: Is Student Support Services in a school system a fancy word for “School Psychologist”?
If children hear psychologist wouldn’t that scare them like something is wrong with them. I was curious how school systems are now rewording job titles to make it less scary for children to associate things with.

Answer by Lisa
It depends upon the school. Student Support Services could include many more services than just the psychological. For instance, there could be vocational assistance. There could be help when students get into fights or need study skills. It could refer to assistance with college applications. Of course, it could also include a school psychologist. I think it would be different from state to state as well as from country to country. Perhaps you should contact your local school system to determine how they are using the term.

What Mental Illness Causes You to Hear Voices?

Question by ?Dianna?: What mental illness causes you to hear voices?
I’m creating a character for a story who, for want of a better word, is crazy. I want her to have a long list of mental illnesses but at the same time not a ridiculous amount. So far she has borderline personality disorder, bipolar and an eating disorder (bulimia). I want her to hear voices as well though..can that be related to any of these disorders? I was thinking of making her schizophrenic but the only symptom I want her to have is hearing voices – is that possible? She also has hallucinations, but that was going to be due to her bipolar.
Also, is it possible for someone to have all these mental illnesses? Would it be too much if I added depression and anxiety disorder to the list?

Thank you!
