Is Student Support Services in a School System a Fancy Word for “School Psychologist”?

Question by Juicy: Is Student Support Services in a school system a fancy word for “School Psychologist”?
If children hear psychologist wouldn’t that scare them like something is wrong with them. I was curious how school systems are now rewording job titles to make it less scary for children to associate things with.

It depends upon the school. Student Support Services could include many more services than just the psychological. For instance, there could be vocational assistance. There could be help when students get into fights or need study skills. It could refer to assistance with college applications. Of course, it could also include a school psychologist. I think it would be different from state to state as well as from country to country. Perhaps you should contact your local school system to determine how they are using the term.

Sorry I couldn’t be more specific.
