What Is Sympathy, Empathy, and Compassion?

Question by hey: What is sympathy, empathy, and compassion?
and how do they influence our daily lives?

Best answer:

Answer by capwest5a
Sympathy = feeling FOR someone (“I can understand your loss.”)

Empathy = feeling WITH someone (“We’ll share this struggle together.”)

Compassion =
– a deep awareness of and sympathy for another’s suffering
– the humane quality of understanding the suffering of others and wanting to do something about it

Compassion is a combination of sympathy and empathy.
(“I can understand your loss and we’ll share this struggle together.”)
