Geriatric Czar?
Since the average American spends 90% of all the money he will spend in his lifetime (for health care) during the last two years of his life, such an attitude will greatly cut costs for the Government’s “health care” plan. – AND you can’t sue the Government for malpractice or denial of services! – That too is written into the bill.

Why Do Some Men/women Live in Denial About Their “Depression or Addictions”??
Question by I have an answer !: Why do some men/women live in denial about their “depression or addictions”??
Do they have to “hit rock bottom” to realize and accept their “desease” ? Do they have to “lose their family and friends” in order to realize, it’s time to get some professional help ? A dear friend of mine is going through this “depression and alcoholism” stage right now, (it’s been actually a while) and I have no idea how to help anymore ! She is a grown woman for crying out loud ! What else can I do ? I suggested to go with her to the AA meetings, called even “rehab centers” but the response I get is the same: “She is the only one who can admitt to her problem and do something about it!”

Is It Common for Adoption Workers to Misuse the Term “birthmother”?
Question by grapesgum: Is it common for adoption workers to misuse the term “birthmother”?
I thought that “birthmother” was a term used by the adoption industry to refer to a woman who had surrendered her parental rights thereby making the child available for adoption. Yet I constantly see any expectant mother who considers adoption called a “birthmother”. Sometimes a woman who has chosen to parent is still called a “birthmother”.
I assume that adoptive parents learn the misuse of the birthmother term from adoption workers. In fact, I have read that some adoptive parents are very dismayed when they are told by their adoption worker that they MUST address their presentation letters with the term “Dear Birthmother”.
So three questions:
Is my understanding of the term “birthmother” correct? “A woman who has signed away her rights as a mother”
Unless You Have Experience Involving Depression,Anxiety, Trauma Etc You Have No Place Being a Counselor?
Question by angel_x: Unless you have experience involving depression, anxiety, trauma etc you have no place being a counselor?
Do you agree or disagree? I had counselors in my time who just didn’t have the emotional depth or the experience to understand me at all. The worst are the middle aged ones who’ve been successfully put through the system and lived normal happy lives. Nice childhood, good school, university, marriage, kids, good respectable job working with “troubled” young people.
Does Anyone Know if in New York State Its Leagle to Serve Alcohol at a Nursing Home?
Question by I’m Country: Does anyone know if in New York State its leagle to serve alcohol at a nursing home?
So my mom was sent to this nursing home, they call themselves a “rehabilitation” center, but one look will tell you they’re a nursing home. She’s supposed to be there for rehab for her knees, then have a double knee replacement and then go back to this place for the post surgery rehab. Anyway, I was there today visiting, well, actually making sure everyone was doing their job, but that’s another story. And one of the aids stopped by to ask her if she wanted to go to happy hour. My mom said no and the aid left. I joked with my mom that maybe she should go, that a shot of whiskey might do her good. She told me that’s what they have at happy hour. I thought she was kidding, so I asked her if they really served alcohol at happy hour. She told me they have beer and wine coolers. So I said that it must be non-alcoholic, and she told me that its not, that its the real thing. Well, as real as beer and wine coolers can get. I tried to ask some one when I was leaving if they really serve alcohol, but the only answer I got was “I don’t know.” Does anyone know if this is leagle? It doesn’t sound right to me. This is ranking so high on my p**s-me-off-o-meter. Way above them useing the fire extinguishers as masking tape holders and leaving other peoples meds in my mom’s room.
