Question by mandm: What is the difference between a psychiatrist, therapist and a counselor?
I need to see someone about some issues, just personal stuff from my past. Hope to find some ways to deal with it and move on, things I just need to talk about and hope to get some usefull advise about. Who should I see and what is the diffrence between the three?

Question by Jody: Brain injury?
my 17 year old sister was in a bad car accident thursday and medivac to a trama 1 hospital, she has 3 small brain bleed and one deep bleed, she is unconsious at this time but still has brain activity, she was able to have surgury to have her two broken femurs put back together, I was just curios to see if anyone else has gone through this themselves or are a close family member gone thorugh this, to help me through this. The doctors have given her a good chance of recovey. Please no negative comments this accident was an accident my sisters boy friend car hit an icepatch.
She is at the at one of the best Hospitals in America (Lehigh Valley), I am just glad she is alive, there was nothing left of the car and she was the worst injured.

I have been so depressed so I decided to find a counselor thru internet. I live in a country wherein counseling isn’t very common. I saw a web of a center so I sent an email. After couple of days a counselor phoned me & asked about my problem . We talked for like half hour. I asked him when can I visit his center and he said better do it on phone for a while because he is busy. after 3days he called me again and asked me how do I feel, .I said I didn’t get good sleep he told me to touch myself or use a vibrator with warm oil to make me feel relax at night. I was a bit amazed! I didn’t react on what he said because I was thinking that he is an American and surely has different mentality than me with regards to that sort of thing.
I asked when can I meet him at his center so he arranged on a week end but then he called me again and said he can’t make it in his center. Instead he wanted to go to my apartment for effective counseling. Is it common?

Question by Christine H: I am not sure what to anymore…I love him but i have no idea how much more I can take?
My husband and I have been married for just over two years. He is in the military and this is the 3rd deployment we have been through since we got together. It seems like whenever he is gone, all he does is bring me down. He insults me, blames me for everything, tells me I am nothing but a Bitch and that I am useless. When he came back from Afghanistan, he was really bad. I’m nearly positive he suffers from PTSD, but he refuses counseling. Every time something doesn’t go his way, he screams divorce. He has been gone just over two months now and has spent over two grand with no explanation. I am having trouble paying my bills. I already moved everything to an account with just my name but I am starting to lose faith in myself as a person. I have already gone through a command ordered psychological evaluation (I am a reserving) because he finally caused me to have a breakdown. I am pregnant and already nearly lost the baby twice. I live him so much and I don’t want to leave him because of our 19 month old, who address her daddy. Please someone help. I am navy and so is he if that helps with suggestions.

Question by jackie: Can you sue your therapist ?
I was a troubled teenager and I had a therapist who was very condescending towards me.

He took all my money – prescribed me all the wrong medications that would knock me out and …due to an ‘incident’ involving a fight with .my mother – he put me in a “treatment center” – with the explanation ” You are sick”

After I came out of the hospital – I dropped out of high school – missed too many days and I felt I can never resume a normal teeange life again.

Now as an adult – I haven’t improved much mentally …having a full productive life is a bit hard for me.

I saw “In Treatment” on HBO – and I feel that my therapist d misdiagnosed and abused me with powerful medications that weren’t right for me. His ‘hospitalization” detoured my life in a severe way.
