Question by y: Just received a memo from the school regarding the speech?
“Any student that does not wish to see the speech. Needs to see a school counselor.”

Why would that be necessary?
Different activities are handled be the guidance counselors
My school has d sets of counselors, The guidance which handle all the courses and activities, and the counselors which handle all the emotional issues. The emotional ones are the ones they have to see.

Maybe to arrange some other type of activity for the child to do while everyone else is watching?
