Question by Heather Zoll: How can I prolong the life of my macbook pro?
Just over a year ago I treated myself to a 13.3 inch macbook pro and I absolutely love it! I stupidly waited too long to get applecare though. I called to purchase it and my laptop was 63 days too old for me to buy applecare at that time. Does anyone know of any loopholes around this? I really love my computer and want it to last a long time. I have heard different things about viruses on macs and I was also wondering if there is any sort of virus protection recommended for mac products? And if so, which one is the most efficient without slowing down my machine? Also, what cases are best for macs? Especially if I can’t get insurance I want to protect it as best as I can, inside and out. I’m looking at screen protectors, keyboard covers, and hard shell cases to snap on the laptop – just wondering what people recommend? I also currently have google chrome and safari on my computer and was wondering if that is at all bad? Sorry for all the questions, this is my first laptop and with very busy schedule I haven’t had much time to spend on it yet. Thanks in advance, any and all tips and advice to make this laptop last a long time would be greatly appreciated!

Turn it off at night or if your not going to use it in awhile ….especially if it has a data drive and not a newer ssd drive,cause a hard drive that’s not a ssd has platters that spin on bearings….the bearing will wear out after years of use….and can get damaged if you bump your laptop….so keep it good place not to get bumped,and turned off when transporting instead of hibernate mode
