Here’s My Major, Here’s My Interest, Here Are My Strong Points and Experience. What Can I Do With All This?

Question by Sarah: Here’s my major, here’s my interest, here are my strong points and experience. What can I do with all this?
My major is psychology. I love learning about behaviors, and why people do what they do. I took a class “Psychology of Crisis Intervention” which is basically, counseling. I did very well and all the information came naturally to me.

I have been babysitting my whole life but now, I have been a professional nanny for a few years. I work for a company called Nanny Poppinz, which is a place for parents to call when they need child care and the company “ships out” nannies to the family for the day, or for however long the parents need (live in and live out nannies)

I like child psychology. I understand child behavior. I understand how to work with a child, how to discipline a child, how to raise a child. And children really take a liking to me! I know how to have fun with children and at the same time, stimulating their minds and skills.

I plan on getting my Ph.D. in psychology, focusing on the child.

What can I do with a background such as this? Do you think this is good enough to open up a child daycare? I want it to be different than most daycares, I want it to be stimulating and a great experience rather than just having parents “dump off” their children and have the kids be bored and watch movies.

Do you think that when I finish my degree, I would be able to do this? What suggestions do you have? I have been a nanny to PLENTY of children and I am a fulltime student.
