Is My Daughter’s Behavior Normal After a Death?

Question by Sophia: Is my daughter’s behavior normal after a death?
We had the most amazing, nicest, sweetest, most angelic cat in the world for 18 years. My daughter grew up with the angel cat for her entire life. When the angel had to be put to sleep 2 months ago, my 21 year old daughter didn’t take it well. She started smoking again (she had quit, hadn’t smoked since she was 17). She refused to talk about the situation. She stayed in her room for a week. Then she put a photo of her cat on her desk and sometimes she hugs the photo and pets it.

Is this normal or should I be worried about how my daughter is coping with this?
Barry- that was a really beautiful poem.

What Should I Say to a Friend After She Has Lost Her Baby?

Question by Erica: What should i say to a friend after she has lost her baby?
There is a girl i work with and we both had the same due date, but she lost the baby a couple months ago. I am having my baby shower soon and she wants to come and i want her to to. I just feel weird about talking about the baby around her sometimes just because i feel so bad. What are things i can say to her to not make her feel bad about losing her baby?

Are There Any Support Groups for Grieving Spouses in Southern New Jersey?

Question by susieq23: Are there any support groups for grieving spouses in Southern New Jersey?
My husband died almost two years ago and I am still having a difficult time adjusting. I thought perhaps a support group might help me get through the process. It bothers me when widows of deceased spouses of less than a year are dating. I have no idea how to move on. I have become somewhat of a recluse, withdrawn, and a prisoner in my own home. How do I get through this? All my friends have moved on with their lives and spouses or significant others and no longer have time for me. The category of my question is not only love and romance, but friends and family, as well as singles (widows) and dating. HELP!
