Well there are actually lots of different counselors. You didn’t say which type you’re interested in becoming, but I’ll find some information to help you..

Therapist — “Therapist” is another name for “counselor.” Therapists are people who use counseling to treat mental, emotional and nervous illnesses. Counseling is also called “psychotherapy.” Therapists can be psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers or other professional counselors trained in mental health.

Should I Be Allowed to Get Married?

Question by tasha: Should I be allowed to get married?
I’m 18 years old, I finished high school early and graduated with honors. I got accepted into college and have already taken some summer college classes and start full time this fall. I work part time at a boutique and I have my own apartment. I pay all my own bills. I have been in a relationship with a man since we were 12. We met in 7th grade and made it through middle school, high school, and now starting college together. We’ve already experienced many life changing events together like family deaths, rehab, moving in together, paying bills, taking care of a pet together, both working regular jobs and going to school full time. We’ve had our ups and downs but we’ve made it through everything. People go through many changes from ages 12 to 18 and I feel as if we could handle those changes together then we should be handle the next 6 years of changes as well. Our families are really close and we do lots of activities together. Me and my boyfriend have tried relationships with others but we’ve always found our way back together. We really feel like we are ready to get engaged. We don’t plan on getting married for probably 4 or 5 years but we feel like we are ready for the next step in commitment but our parents are so against it just saying we are too young. And I understand statically young marriages are likely to end in divorce, however I feel like our story is a little more unique and that we are ready to get engaged. We don’t plan on getting married until we finish college though. So I was just wondering what y’all’s opinions were on us getting engaged now but waiting for a few years before we get married? Is age really a big deal? I’m looking for some true answers. Nice comments only please. Thank you (:
