Why Would My Husband Say He Doesn’t Love Me Anymore Just to Get Me Into Counseling?
Question by Marciea: Why would my husband say he doesn’t love me anymore just to get me into counseling?
My husband has PTSD; he went to afghanistan 6 years ago and experienced a lot. It took me 4 years of dealing with his anger to convince him into counseling with the VA. Now, after two years of hits and misses with his appts. he tells me this:
I dont love you or anyone. two days later, “I told you I don;t love you”, now today, its “I love you and I only said that to get you into counseling”, which I said if he needed me to I wouldnt resist.
So this sounds to me like he really doesnt love me anymore, why would he say it if he didnt mean it and more then once? I told him I was confused about this and he said I was confused because I need counseling. Whats the deal?
Now, is his response because of the PTSD or is it because he really doesnt love me anymore. I really need to understand this because for 6 years he has pushed me away, stopped having sex, and yells everytime we try to communicate.
Do I have a right to be happy or am I obligated to stick this out for the rest of my life? You know, “till death do I part”. And thats the other fear, his anger. He has only hit me once when he first came home but since then he has beaten two of my daughters boyfriends, my other daughters husband, threatens customers at the store he manages, and on and on.
I do love him but after all these years of anger and hurtful words and neglect in the sexual area; Do I have a right to leave?
I have suggested to go to his counselors with him but he says no, doesnt want me there. As for the kids that he hit, its wasnt the fact that he hit them, its the fact that he darn near killed them. they all ended up at the hospital.
He is going to counseling a bit more now but he is getting worse in my opinion. I have been here for him this whole time, I really have but he is treating me worse and worse. I thought his counseling would help but he is getting further and further from me.
Im sure I have said things that have hurt him, it happens, but I would never tell him I dont love him unless I really didnt.
Now he is offering me 10,000 to leave and give up my home. I have been a housewife because he asked me to, I have a 15 year old to raise. I don’t want this but damn, offering me money to leave and then tell me “I love you and I just want you to go to your own counselor”

Lip Service Or Real Help For Homeless Vets? – More at www.theuptake.org. The system that cares for America’s Veterans is strained and breaking. There’s been an increase in the number of homeless veterans following the Desert Storm and Iraq wars. Normally homeless people are helped by State and County governments, but veterans are supposed to be helped by the Federal government through the Veterans Administration. Over the last several budgets, the VA has been under funded. More than one-half of the VA facilities do not offer counseling for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). A large majority of facilities that do offer PTSD counseling can’t handle the caseload, which is unfortunate since many suicides among veterans have been attributed to untreated PTSD. Against that backdrop, advocacy groups are meeting with politicians from both parties at the RNC and the DNC. In this video The UpTake’s Noah Kunin reports that Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons came to the vets events, but refused to talk about what he is doing on veterans issues. Gibbons has been given low marks by many veterans advocacy groups.
