Question by RitchWilliams: Why is the shooting of Congress Woman Giffords and five others a national tragedy?
Why is the shooting of this congress woman and five others a national tragedy worthy of national attention and visits by the President and others when around the country other murders take place pretty much on a daily basis. Why are Congresswoman Giffords and others more important than the mother in Watts or the child in North East DC who are killed by violent crime almost daily in this country? Are they any less important? Do we value their lives any less?

Every shooting, every murder is a tragedy. Why is this one more of a tragedy? So much so that it stops our nation in its tracks? And what does that say about us as a people and our leaders who seem to see themselves as protected elite, far above us, the mere rif raf?
