Who Officially Diagnoses Someone as Bipolar?
Question by EconGal: Who officially diagnoses someone as bipolar?
who declares if someone is bipolar? is it a pyschologist, psychiatrist, or regular doctor? if you are seeing a pyschologist for depression (though no one official has said “you have depression”) would you say you are being “treated for depression”? What do you need to do to be diagnosed formally?

i think only a doctor can do that, so that would be a psychiatrist or your regular doctor. however, your regular doctor may refer you to a psychiatrist.
