What to Make of a So Called “Child Physcologist”?

Question by This girl: What to make of a so called “child physcologist”?
I have mixed feelings about them, when I was younger I had a problem that 90% of adults now would seek counseling for if it had happened to them, my mother paid a lot of money and I got a lot of mental treatment for, and now I can honestly say that so called “therapy” was nothing more than me and a bunch of other little girls playing with toys and being cohersed into demenstrating our experiences through play. And when we did not show what they apparently wanted us to show them, they would simply “counsel” us into knowing that we were safe and it was ok to show them, no matter how bizarre it all seemed, I just think “play therapy” is a bunch of bull, and I know how they like to misconstrue things, has anyone ever had “play therapy” and do you remember being guided to saying or acting out certain untrue things?

I think play therapy may very well be bull and I know that it would be VERY easy to coearse a child into believing or acting out untrue things. It’s very touchy. The line between extracting the truth and inciting false memories.

I too went to a psychologist as a small child and had to play. I was always a skeptic though. I remember even at teh age of 6 I thought something was a little fishy about the whole thing and I knew that this person was trying to figure me out etc. I refused to touch anything. I would just sit there and give him the evil eye for an hour. Idk maybe it works for some kids but it certainly didn’t do a thing for me.

What do you think? Answer below!
