Ways of Dealing With Depression/anxiety…?
Question by good_kitty: Ways of dealing with depression/anxiety…?
Im 20 years old and since I was about 14/15 I have had recurring periods of depression which usually last anything from 3/4 weeks to 2 months. I am also anxious like ALL of the time and get stressed out and upset really easily.
I haven’t yet had a job, I went to college twice (dropped out both times with no qualifications) and have recently started a work placement to help me get some experience. But I’m not in a good place at the moment and I’m finding it really hard to follow through with the work placement. I get up and just don’t want to go. The more I think about going in, the more stressed and anxious I get. I’ve always found it really hard to follow through with things but I don’t want to mess this up, I’m 20 and I’ve done nothing with my life!
I haven’t seen anybody (doctor/psychiatrist) about it because I find it really hard to talk to people I don’t know about my problems and I don’t want to be labelled as ‘clinically depressed’ or anything. Even just thinking about seeing someone like that makes me panic.
Anyone have any advice on what to do…?
Anyone else in a similar situation?
