Question by erowidkid: Why do people have problems with underage drinking?
I am an eighteen year old who has been reviewing the different posts/questions regarding underage drinking. I have encountered several people who get quite upset at those of us who are alright with the issue and I thought it would be fun to see a debate on yahoo answers. Heres my opinion, I am eighteen years old have had a job since 14, two jobs since 15 and maintained a B+ gpa throughout high school. I certainly think I am mature enough and responsible enough to determine if I am capable of drinking alcohol. But even for those who are not so responsible, is it not their lives, should they not be given the option to ruin it if they please. Overall, my basic philosophy for life is that anyone should be able to do what they please as long as they do not hurt anyone else in the process. Thus I certainly do not support drinking and driving or such dangerous situations. What exactly is wrong with this philosophy.

First of all, this isn’t an ”emo” teenage post. Life can be REALLY hard at any stage. I’m a single young woman.

I hope I can say this without being judged because I’ve been strong for so long. It’s just at the point where it’s breaking me.

I have all these high dreams for my life but sometimes I feel like there’s no point in trying because everything I worked hard for has been ruined for me. This sounds really harsh, but sometimes I don’t want to live anymore. Honestly? I don’t think I have it in me to commit suicide but sometimes I FEEL suicidal because I feel like there’s no way to fix any of my problems. My life is an absolute mess now, and honestly I made some mistakes that were contributing factors but these retards I thought were my friends backstabbed me and ruined my life and the pain and brokenness won’t go away. I just want something to look forward to and I feel hopeless.

Not sure if your being straight with us or not. It sounds like you have a pattern of getting into trouble. Pretty much unheard of getting booted for one instance of pot. Most get a second chance. But I am sure that some commands could be hard asses.

Currently I am addicted to Modern Warfare 2 (as in I play it all night long and don’t sleep. Every night.). I need to break this addiction.
This isn’t to say that I haven’t been addicted to games before; I played WoW for 14 hours a day for a month…but I just get burned out on MMOs, and I don’t on MW2.

I play single-player games the same way, like doing every single mission and beating Fallout 3 in just 3 or 4 days. I get burned out on single-player games to, though.

Hi all, I am the daughter of a single parent with aspergers…my mum was not diagnosed with aspergers until I was 17, by which point our relationship had deteriorated so much I had moved out. I am now 24, and although we are closer now, (understanding she cannot help the way she is sometimes is helpful to me) I still suffer with self-esteem issues and self confidence problems, which in turn affect any relationship I try and have! I am trying to change this with affirmations and positive thinking but I am struggling and end up pushing most people away. If anyone can suggest any advice or where I can go to get some I’d appreciate it!.
