Question by AJS: Why is it so hard to get help with a divorce appeal?
Ex husband used our marital assets to get a ruthless lawyer while my lawyer did not even have a pen and paper when he came to trial. I have tried to get help for an appeal to the judge’s dissission but no other attorney will touch the case unless I come up with a $ 15,000.00 retainer. I do not have that kind of money.

Please I need help here and do not know where else to turn.

It seems like the grounds you want to assert are “ineffective assistance of counsel.” Many lawyers are uncomfortable asserting that another lawyer didn’t do a good job. Plus appeals in divorce cases rarely are successful but they are a lot of work. It sounds like the lawyers you contacted want to make sure that they will be paid. You are probably best off just moving on.

Question by arashcuzi: How do I figure out what to do with the rest of my life?
It’s been asked too many times, but even as I read all those answers, nothing helped, so here goes…

I’m not really good at anything, and I don’t really enjoy much, the few (and I mean so very few) things I am nearly mediocre at (that’s the best I am at anything) is writing poetry (which doesn’t make you famous or rich until your dead) and well, maybe that was it. I like playing video games, but these days you have to be really good at Halo to play professional tournaments (and I’m not, nor do I have any desire to be) and last I heard there will never be a ‘Play Final Fantasy all the way through and get paid’ billboard anywhere. I can’t write for a video game magazine (they all want people with degrees and I neither have the patience nor the money nor the credit for a loan to go to school) and I’m buried to my head in debt.

we are getting ready to start taking premarital counseling and I was just wondering what is covered in these classes? What do they “counsel” you on? And is typically just the two of you or many of you? My faith is Christian, not any particular denomination if this helps.

my wife and i are looking for a marriage counselor. we called a few places and found one guy who seemed ok. so we pre-interviewed and both told him all kinds of intimate details about our relationship. then we found out that he wanted to do everything by phone. it sounded like a scam to me, like he was going to take our money and we’d just have a “counselor” on the phone to talk to.

we decided we weren’t comfortable with this, and found a place that we can actually sit down with a counselor, but i’m very uneasy about the other guy now. we told him all kinds of private things, and he’s got our phone number and address.

i tried researching him online afterwards, and can’t find any info about him, except a livejournal page (unprofessional) where a bunch of people are asking him to stop friending them. (spammer?)
