I am wondering, how does one become a psychologist? Like those people you see in movies where one person is laying down on a leather chair/bed thing and talking about their problems, while the “therapist” writes down notes… How does one become that? Does it takes a Masters degree, or a PHD? How many years of study does one has to do in order to become one?

Psychiatrist and psychologist are totally different profession.

If you want to pursue a type of profession as you have described above, you need to go to medical school as psychiatrist is a medical profession that deals with mental illness.

Getting masters or doctorate in psychology will NOT make you to be psychiatrist.
