That said, if someone is at high risk of death after years of addiction and failed treatments and is unwilling to do anything else anyway, I can understand the choice. In that case, I'd try to find the safest, most regulated clinic possible—absolutely …

Sadly, Need Recommendation on Children’s Books Dealing With Death?
Question by Julie H: Sadly, need recommendation on children’s books dealing with death?
I have a 1st grade student who has a brain tumor and the prognosis is not good. I work in the school library and have had questions asking us what books to recommend on the subject that would help that child and the other children understand. Every day I pray for a miracle for her, but we need to be prepared to deal with what the future may bring. I will be checking with an agency that does grief counseling, but does anybody have recommendations from personal experience? We already have the books “The Next Place” which is beautiful, and also “What is Heaven?” by Maria Shriver. And if you would like to pray for her, the little girl’s name is Maria. Thank you.
Thanks to all. I had more than one “best answer” if it had been an option. Miranda, good luck…I can tell you will be a good teacher. Melanie, excellent suggestions from your son’s experience. FYI: Maria’s website is www.prayersformaria.com and her parents have started a foundation to help others with brain cancer at www.prayersfrommaria.com. Please pray for Maria and others like her, their families, friends and teachers who are trying to understand “why”, and for the doctors & researchers to find a cause/cure for pediatric brain tumors. Thank you for visiting my question and your caring responses…you have all been very helpful.
Highrock Christmas Concert 2011 Promo
Highrock Christmas Concert 2011 Promo – Our dream has been to be the kind of church that makes a difference in our community. And for the past four years, we have done just that through our annual Christmas Benefit Concert! In previous years, we have raised thousands of dollars for the Arlington Food Pantry and last year, raised nearly 000 for the Arlington Safety Net, serving our neighbors in need. We’ve received participation from dozens of local businesses who partnered with us to make each year possible. And since our first performance in 2006, hundreds of people have made coming to our concert a tradition! This year marks the fifth year of our concert and we can’t be more overjoyed. From the beginning, we’ve envisioned this concert to be more than just entertainment, and our guests who come, more than members of an audience. Through an elegantly crafted program of music, visuals, readings and poetry, we hope to share the story of Christmas in a fresh and inspiring way. We also hope our guests will truly feel like they are being welcomed into our home as we support a great cause together. All proceeds from this year’s concert will benefit the Arlington Youth Counseling Center. In cooperation with the Arlington Department of Health and Human Services, our goal is to fully fund a case manager program that will expand and increase services around youth and family mental health, domestic violence prevention, and near-homelessness intervention. This program will help to address the complex needs of the most …

Do You Think That Bush Had This Prayer in Mind When He Started the War in Iraq?
Question by Yoda Green: Do you think that Bush had this prayer in mind when he started the war in Iraq?
O Lord our God, help us tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with their little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it. ~Mark Twain, “The War Prayer”
