It’s just a career I’m considering. By adolescents, I mean teenagers and young adults. I don’t know if I want to work with really young kids all the time..

Yes, there are positions out there in working with youth services, to include juvenile detention centers and facilities; residential treatment; high schools, etc. Residential treatment centers are in different specialties…..some may focus on drug/alcohol abuse; some may be eating disorder treatment centers, etc. There are also positions with children’s hospitals, and psych hospitals.
Indeed is a good job search and will give you an idea of some of the jobs. I did a search using “adolescent social worker” http://www.indeed.com/jobs?q=adolescent+social+worker&l=
Why Do High School Students Have So Many Different Subjects Shoved Down Their Throat?
Question by CH: Why do high school students have so many different subjects shoved down their throat?
No, I do NOT want to learn about the Pythagorean Theorem and the ancient Hittites. I could f**king care less. I want to be a psychotherapist. That has nothing to do with the Pythagorean theorem or ancient Hittites. And knowing about those two subjects will never, ever help me in life. Yet they’re still shoved down my throat. Here’s a dialogue with my school counselor.
“You need to start thinking about your career–you need to make these choices now.”
“Okay, I want to be a psychotherapist. I’ve had that goal for years. Can I quit geometry, literature, and biology and focus on that career area?”
“No, you’re not old enough to make those choices now.”

What Kind of Psychologist Do I Need to See?
Question by John: What kind of psychologist do I need to see?
For psychology, we were given an assignment. Here is the assignment, “Each student has been given a “situation”, “disorder,” or a small problem when you attended class today. For the first part of this assignment you are to seek counseling from a Psychologist to assist you with your particular situation. In your paragraph, make sure you write about what type of Psychologist you would seek, what approach would they use to assist you with your situation, and how would they help you using that approach.” My disorder is Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Care to help?
This is for a college course.

I Have an Interesting Question About Friendship?
Question by Avasia: I have an interesting question about friendship?
Hey, I’m Avasia and I’m currently in High School. My question is “How to gain a best friend?”.
I think my main dilemmas here are trust and the fact of me being gay (lesbian). I had a best friend my freshman year but my sophomore year she graduated and went off to college. She didn’t know I was gay at the time and I wasn’t very open about it because I went to a private Christian school. I was bullied for my sexuality in seventh grade at the same school when I tried to become open about it. The school sent me to “Gay counseling” and threatened to kick me out of the school if I didn’t change. Ever since that year, I kept it under the rug. So the main point is, my best friend never knew I was gay because we both went to the same school together.
