How Do I Bring Up Depression to My Parents?
Question by Nicole: How do I bring up depression to my parents?
I don’t feel like going into detail, but bottom line is I’m 16 and I’ve kind of been struggling with feelings of depression for awhile.
My 26 year old brother was recently prescribed something for a mental disorder, but he won’t tell us what it is. He’s embarrassed. So maybe something runs in my family?
I’m also positive I had anxiety and OCD as a child if it matters, & my parents were well aware of this.
It was bad.
Everything I did I thought would result in me thinking I was going to die. Literally. This lasted from about 8 years old – 11 My mom said she thought it would pass and it was just a phase.
I guess she was right.. I’m obviously more rational now but I still feel anxious sometimes. I think everyone does.
As for the OCD, yeah that definitely passed. that one’s self explanatory.

Obsessed Over This Guy During and Even After High School?
Question by l8yonfire77: Obsessed over this guy during and even after high school?
I have had a “crush” on this guy since we were in elementary school. I was always really shy, fair, thin blonde hair, and on the chubby side. Everything he did was like the biggest deal. 😀 Opportunities to get to know each other were limited at our private christian school.
So, I’ve never actually told him I like/love him! In my head, he’s everything I want in a guy. I wrote in my notebook me plus him equals love in middle school and someone read it out loud so small school the news spread quickly I was humiliated. A few obsessive embarrassing emails in middle school, flat out rejection needless to say I cried. So in high school in turned into even more of an introvert while he was happy and interacted with everyone/popular. He’s definitely really cute and I got to a mentally trained point where I could interact with him and sit with our group and never really show any crazy towards him like I used to. But then of course, when I went home and crawled into bed I dreamed about him asking me out and girl stuff like that. 🙂
What Are the Requirements for Counseling People in Minnesota?
Question by slxpluvs: What are the requirements for counseling people in Minnesota?
What are the requirements for counseling people in Minnesota? This would be a novel type of counseling that is not meant to treat, diagnose, or cure any disease, nor be broad enough to count as occupational therapy.

Answer by Brian G
The same requirements as for palm readers and psychics. You would need a tax number so the State can get a piece of your ill-gotten gains.

You should be careful not to make people think you are a psychologist, psychiatrist, or other mental health counselor. I suppose you could present yourself as a “mentor” or “lifestyle counselor.”
