Which School Should I Go To?
Question by rayne2k5: Which school should I go to?
I just recently received my acceptance letters for a masters degree in mental health counseling with a lpc (licensed professional counselor) certification. Furthermore, while I have yet to hear back from Columbia University (acceptance letters are going out this week) I have been accepted to my local state university (where I currently attend), Lesley University in Cambridge Mass, and Fordham University. (all acceptance letters are for the same degree) However I am unsure which university to choose being that all of these graduate programs offer little to no financial backing other than loans. My local state university is going to cost me roughly 20,000 to complete my entire degree while Fordham is going to cost roughly 80,000 minus travel expenses because I will be commuting from CT to NYC once a week via train. While I understand that the obvious choice would be to go for the cheaper school I am wondering if spending the extra money to go to a more prestigious institution would be worth the cost and give me a better chance at gaining entrance into a PH.D program or if I should save money and then try to enter a PH.D. program.

If Vocational Services Provide People Independence, How Come They Cant Provide Me With an Apartment?
Question by David G: If vocational services provide people independence, how come they cant provide me with an apartment?
If they provide people with independence, how come they cant provide me with an apartment??? They said it will take 60 days for me to be eligible for services or not. thats way too long. and all they basically do is refer me to mental evolauions and then place me in a job(maybe something i may not like). this is my third time attempting help from vocational services. i told my counselor my situation, but didnt seem to concern about the past and future. not my type of counselor.
provide with skills that will make me waste my free time(watching football games on TV), why would i risk that?
hear this. many years ago, i worked a Sunday job that caused me to miss the Super Bowl. doesnt that depress all of you if you were in my shoes?
im not given independence, im being tricked into something i dont like. doesnt independence mean freedom? dont i have to freedom to be given a job that last 2 months(like a summer-type job)? thats the first job im suppose to be given. im still living in my parents’ house and no one cant talk my parents into letting me be free.
i had to pay $ 4,000 in college tuition and failed a few courses. and had many brake downs on my car during that time due to lack of support.
