Translating the 12 Steps into Therapeutic Tasks for Sexual Addiction Recovery

Why Would My Husband Say He Doesn’t Love Me Anymore Just to Get Me Into Counseling?

Question by Marciea: Why would my husband say he doesn’t love me anymore just to get me into counseling?
My husband has PTSD; he went to afghanistan 6 years ago and experienced a lot. It took me 4 years of dealing with his anger to convince him into counseling with the VA. Now, after two years of hits and misses with his appts. he tells me this:

I dont love you or anyone. two days later, “I told you I don;t love you”, now today, its “I love you and I only said that to get you into counseling”, which I said if he needed me to I wouldnt resist.

So this sounds to me like he really doesnt love me anymore, why would he say it if he didnt mean it and more then once? I told him I was confused about this and he said I was confused because I need counseling. Whats the deal?

Possibility That I Will Be on in-Patient Care?

Question by Zach: Possibility that I will be on in-patient care?
I had an overnight stay in the hospital. I’m actually still there. I took drugs with the intent of suicide. A social worker talked to me and she said she is recommending me for in-patient care. Please refrain from saying, “You’re crazy, you need to go.” In all honesty I do not believe that. I had a huge revelation since I’ve been here, and I’m the one who got myself here. I still have to talk to a psych and a crisis response team. The social worker said something like, if I say I want to go, it will be treated as voluntary, etc. If I say I don’t need it then they need a mental expert to make the decision. That’s sort of how it went. So anyways… legally, what are my options? Can someone be more specific and precise with the information? What would the “rehab” be like? How long does it typically go for?

Drug Alcohol Counseling: Ten Questions You Should Ask When Considering a Treatment Center for Alcoholism and Drug Addiction

Q. Does the State Behavioral Health board, or other State agency license your treatment center?

A. States have licensing agencies that oversee behavioral health facilities. Some states (Arizona is one) do not require licenses for “halfway” houses thus there are no standards enforced or monitored by the State. The quality of a halfway house in Arizona depends upon the owner’s commitment to recovery. A license means the facility meets minimum standards to protect the client. A license says nothing about the quality of the program or staff.

Q. What are the credentials of the staff that work with the client?

A. Credentials are important. States vary in the credentialing nomenclature. Arizona uses “LISAC” (Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor). This designation indicates the professional has met a standard established by the State. Not all counselors are licensed in substance abuse. Some facilities have “counselors” who are recent graduates of their program.
