Can You Give Me Some Words of Encouragement. I’m Facing Depression?
Question by Bri: Can you give me some words of encouragement. I’m facing depression?
I was engaged to him, he was my world. Then one day we got into a terrible argument & he hit me. I changed my number & I moved 2 hours away, all by myself, found a great place to live & an awesome job. He would send me e-mails apologizing & trying to work things out. I eventually stopped replying. I went to counseling & did everything I was told to do, I grieved, I got a new look, a complete make-over. I did things I never knew I could, I got an amazing new job, joined yoga & have even started to learn about spiritualism, light & love. I didn’t contact him, if he would e-mail me I wouldn’t reply, deleted him from all social networks. It’s been 4 months since the breakup & I am still hurting, not a day goes by that I don’t think of him. We hadn’t spoken in nearly 2 months, my birthday was 4 days ago & he e-mails me & says “Happy birthday I hope all is well & enjoy. Later” I just replied with a simple thanks. The day before that his friend writes me on facebook asking me if I have seen him or heard from her, or do I know a number that he can be reached at. I just simply said “No, I moved & we haven’t spoken”. It’s been four months & I feel as though I should be over him by now. I’m not even ready to date, but I do enjoy going out with girlfriends & hanging out. Some days are better than others, today was so hard I don’t know why I kept thinking about him & how poorly he treated me I couldn’t even sleep, I woke up with a rapid heart beat & just angry. I don’t really have any one to talk to about this, so any opinions or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
What Can I Do About My Impossible Mother?
Question by J. Adele: What can I do about My Impossible mother?
I do not love my mother. When I was growing up she supported me financially, that’s it.
Actually my mom was my everything until when I was 9 years old, my parents divorced, He had an affair and left her. It was wrong, but when it cam to me and my brother, my dad has always tried to show us love and I’ve accepted it.
I’m nearly 19 now. I’m a good kid, I don’t go out of my way to get into trouble, but ever since dad left and got remarried, its like I’m him in her eyes. I look like him, and I have large amounts of his carefree personality. He’s not a bad person, just made bad choices. I’m getting punished for those choices.

While the Christian does not engage in a physical war against blood and flesh (Eph 6:12), he is engaged in warfare nonetheless, a spiritual fight. The apostle Paul describes the war waged within the Christian between “sin’s law” and “God’s law,” or ‘the law of the mind’ (the Christian mind in harmony with God).—Ro 7:15-25.
This warfare of the Christian is an agonizing one, requiring the exertion of every effort for a person to come off winner. But he can be confident of victory through the undeserved kindness of God through Christ and the help of God’s spirit. (Ro 8:35-39) Jesus said of this fight: “Exert yourselves vigorously to get in through the narrow door” (Lu 13:24), and the apostle Peter counseled: “Keep abstaining from fleshly desires, which are the very ones that carry on a conflict [or, “are doing military service” (stra?teu?on?tai)] against the soul.”—1Pe 2:11

Your doctor is a good place to start. He can place you on some form of anti depressant and it’s amazing after the initial 2 to 3 weeks, how improved your life becomes. He can also refer you to a good counselor who can help you sort through the problems so they cease to exist or become manageable. The one thing you can’t do successfully is get over it on your own without help. You made a great choice to ask and it’s awesome that you recognize the depression exists in your life. Best wishes to you.
