More Teens Becoming ‘fake’ Christians?
Question by Andrew H: More teens becoming ‘fake’ Christians?
According to a study published on CNN recently, American kids are increasingly becoming “fake Christians”. From the article:
“Dean says more American teenagers are embracing what she calls “moralistic therapeutic deism.” Translation: It’s a watered-down faith that portrays God as a “divine therapist” whose chief goal is to boost people’s self-esteem.
Dean is a minister, a professor at Princeton Theological Seminary and the author of “Almost Christian,” a new book that argues that many parents and pastors are unwittingly passing on this self-serving strain of Christianity.”
and
“The study included Christians of all stripes — from Catholics to Protestants of both conservative and liberal denominations. Though three out of four American teenagers claim to be Christian, fewer than half practice their faith, only half deem it important, and most can’t talk coherently about their beliefs, the study found.”

Do You Think It Is Right for a Parent to Do This?
Question by Max: Do you think it is right for a parent to do this?
I stay up late every night. It is summer vacation, and I never have any plans unless a friend calls (which happens often). My family including me, my sister, mother, and father have never had a schedule. All of sudden my mom gets mad at me saying that needs to change but just for me. She says I am hurting my body (i get 10-12 hours of sleep) and that it is making me a bad person (it is not) and when ever I try to use logic in this argument she just yells at me saying that the logic is that she’s the parent. She now says I have to be to bed at 2AM. In bed, I don’t go out, I am in the house, this is not a curfew, it is a bedtime I have never had one before, and my mom has never cared about this before tonight. Also when I tried to tell her I would be waking up past noon no matter what (I am a teenager, everyone I know sleeps this late) she became very mad. (I am in highschool btw)
I’m not a “lazy young adult” I am very active. I also through eBay and the internet make many times more money then I could with a job at my age.
Can a Catholic Marry a Christian?
Question by phresh baybee: Can a catholic marry a christian?
My fiance and I are getting married, but he is a Christian and I am Catholic. My question is, what is required in a Christian Church if we decide to get married there? Would I have to take any classes, fill out any forms, etc?
I know that if we get married in a Catholic Church there is a chance he would have to take classes in order to have his baptism, communion, and confirmation completed. Or, we can talk to the bishop and have a “dispensation”. It does depend on the church though.. My question is on the Christian Churches.
