Articles have been written about drug addiction and the effect on the addict. My goal is to address the signs of substance abuse as well as the feelings and experiences family members have dealing with addiction in the family.

When I use the word “addiction” I am referring to alcohol and drug addiction. There are different stages that family members go through on this bumpy road of addiction. In this article I will describe one of the most common stages parents experience, denial.

Denial

Is my family member an addict? You may be asking yourself that question, or be confronted by a concerned friend. If the person in question is your teenage daughter or son your first thought will be denial.

Question by : Why do “drug rehab” cults continue to thrive despite their many documented cases of abuse?
Why do cults that follow the STRAIGHT INC model continue to exist? STRAIGHT finally got shut down in 1993 but not until HUNDREDS of cases of abuse became documented. Even so, many of the STRAIGHT clinics simply changed their names and continued to abuse the teens held captive there. Verbal abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, sleep deprivation, forced separation from parents, kidnappings, and false imprisonment are just a few of the many crimes that all STRAIGHT based cults are charged with. Many have been shut down but why do they continue to exist??

My friend has been suffering from insomnia for more than 8 years and has been diagnosed to have Depression in Psychiatric Specialits. However, due the the insufficient no. of sleeping spills given by the psychiatrist, he bought the over-the-counter sleeping spills namely Dopareel (but I also heard some ppl called it A.P.O). He had once been penalised for bout $ 2000 as keeping this ‘toxic’ drugs in 2007. Before the Chinese Lunar Holiday, he was caught by the ploice.and this time the case was brought to the court again. He was sent to the Lai Chi Kok Reception Center and will be staying there until 23/4 for the sake of getting the “Report”. I am not sure of what kinda the report is about. should be about whether he’s got any addiction of the drug. In addiction, he needs to consult the psychologist in late April.
The questions I wanna ask are:
1. Will the stay be prolonged in the Center?
2. How could he seek legal aids?
3. The 1st time urine analysis shows that it is PURE. and what would he be sent to the Reception Center?
4. How how probably he will be sent to the prison/ Hei Ling Chau Addiction Treatment Center?
