If Someone Is Addicted to Crack Cocaine, Is There Any Hope?

Question by dbelsila: If someone is addicted to crack cocaine, is there any hope?
My 18 year old son is addicted to crack cocaine. I have tried to watch him; tried threatening; tried cutting off communication; nothing works. He now has stolen from me and he’s sitting in jail. I know he needs treatment, but ppl are saying its a lost cause; some say there is hope and some say he will always use. Is there any hope for recovery? Honestly?

Well for me being in and out of rehabs, i have seen many people recover and maintain sobriety after crack cocaine use. Its a very strong psychological addiction, but there is no physical dependence which makes it a little easier than most things, and is why they rely on psychotherapy. They used to say opiate addiction is a hopeless, but thats changed (considering experience). Its not hopeless, but it will be hard after treatment because u should just worry about his addictive personality, keep a close watch on him. Also, threatening him with things wont do anything, he would do what he wishes. You have to help him to change himself or have someone else help him

AM I in a DEPRESSION?

Question by JL: AM I IN A DEPRESSION?
I am in grade 10 right now and this whole thing started at the end of my grade 9 first semester.

IN semester 1 of grade 9, everything was great!
I had a great personality, I had allot of friends and I always had something to talk about.

After this semester ended, I never actually felt like talking again because I was never in a happy mood.
I became extremely quiet and all my friends tried to talk to me, but for some reason I couldnt maintain a conversation for more than like a minute.

In grade 10, this is still occuring.
I never feel happy, I’m always sad.
I know that I’m always like this because my social life had been destroyed.
I can’t make friends anymore, and I cannot get a girlfriend.
All my previous friends think I’m boring and not many people want top be around me.

What Is the Standpoint Called for Someone Who Doesn’t Believe in Medicine?

Question by bibbit: What is the standpoint called for someone who doesn’t believe in medicine?
I believe that there should be no medicine, and if we get diseases, we should just accept it and let ourselves die and not go against nature. Is there a name for this political stance? (like if you are for abortion, it is called pro-choice) I want to find some blogs or something where I can discuss with people who share my opinion, but I dont know what to google to find that!

I don’t know that it has a specific name, although that course of action in medical care would be deemed “non-interventionist”.

What do you think? Answer below!

“For the Love of a Child” Lifetime?

Question by sophmorechica: “For the love of a child” lifetime?
A few days ago i watched “For the love of a child” on lifetime. It was about abused children and how they went to a place to be taken care of. If you ever saw, do you remember the lady who worked with the children when they painted, the one who had the daughter at home?
Well, i think that i would be interested i a career like that but im not sure what that profession is called. Im guessing it would be some sort of psychologist, but im not sure?
Do you know what it would be called?
or
What other professions deal with abused/hurt kids?
