St. Christopher – An original song. My band, Detergent Heads, is working on a concept album called Wormwood. It deals with (anticipatory) grief but is relevant to anything that blindsides you out of nowhere much like a star falling to earth making 2/3 of the water bitter. The album has metaphorical and literal allusions to the star from Revelation. This song, St. Christopher is one of my favorites. Since the diagnosis of MS I have had many battles and what some would call an existential preoccupation. This song is a direct way of me dealing with feelings of my own mortality and decreased life expectancy. (MS is rarely fatal but it does decrease your life span so this song is dealing with my thoughts on the fragility of life) The album Wormwood deals with literal and metaphorical issues. The album title alludes to the bitterness, vulnerability, depression and weakness that come with a life dominated by illness. St. Christopher will be near the end of the album as a kind of coming to terms with the life that I have lived and being ready to meet my Lord. Hopefully, the listener will be impacted as I am with this song. Peace
