Do You Believe the Term “depression” Is Too Broad?
Question by Mog123: Do you believe the term “depression” is too broad?
I think so. It seems as if nowadays, more people are depressed than ever. One reason for this is because i think the actual definition of depression is blurred. I’ve gathered there are two kinds: situational and chemical. One natural, one abnormal. Obviously, it is completely natural to feel depressed after a break up, the death of a loved one, or job loss. However, because these feelings are normal, I don’t believe they should be categorized with chemical depression, which is a purely medical result. I think the terms “ill” “diseased” and “abnormal” are serious terms. Unfortunately though, because depression is really just clumped under one umbrella, one must automatically assume that ALL people facing depression are somehow mentally ill… Though, that would make such an “illness” as common as the cold. I’ve also noticed that no one talks about the difference between being depressed continuously and feeling depressed in an isolated situation

Okay Here’s the Thing… “Depression”…HELP!?
Question by RuM93: Okay here’s the thing… “Depression”…HELP!?
okay so i have these bunch of symptoms, i asked a question about them and someone referenced a website, a symptom checker kind of thing.
so i ‘checked my symptoms’ and got depression. which actually makes a LOT of sense.
okay so i apparently have a mild case of adolescent depression.
i don’t want my parents to know, i don’t see them a lot and they just never understand me, so i just don’t want them to know.
which is one of the reasons i don’t want to take pills, because i’m gona have to ask for the money.
so i was wondering if there were any other treatments ??
please list your source.
