What to Do About Someone’s Grieving?
Question by hooru: What to do about someone’s grieving?
My dad passed away 2 weeks ago and my mother just sits there and chants, rocks back and forth and won’t listen to any reasoning. Has anyone experienced this? I am worried she is going off the deep end.

She is grieving, very understandably. Ask her to see a doctor to get something that will help her to relax. If you are really worried if she doesn’t eat or whatever, ring the doctor for her and ask him/her to call.

How Exactly Does “Blue Light Therapy” Work for Acne?
Question by Josh: How exactly does “blue light therapy” work for acne?
I’m new to blue light therapy, and my dermatologist recommended it. Is it more to keep acne away, or does it remove scars?

Answer by Loc P
Blue light therapy works. The blue light is just UV light. It kills the bacteria in your skin that causes acne. However, it does not remove scars.
A cheaper and just as effective alternative for blue light therapy is going to a tanning salon. Go to a tanning salon that has facial tanners built into the tanning beds. The light from the tanning bed is the same as the blue light therapy. If you have ever noticed, people that go to tanning salons do not have acne. Trust me, this works.

How Bad Is This? and What Can I Do About It (Involves Children)?
Question by Anouska: how bad is this? And what can i do about it (involves children)?
my boyfriends mother is constantly shouting at her 3 year old, she even seems to shout at him BEFORE he’s even done anything wrong. for example he will walk out the door and she will say something like, DONT YOU DARE GO IN MY F*CKIN ROOM! when he is getting a drink or something.
He is a very naughty child, but i think this is due to the fact that he has been shouted at so much is it pretty much immune to it. The dad has recently gone to work abroad however he doesn’t seem to affected by this, infact he couldn’t wait for him to go, because he knows he can get away with more.

As a speech/langauge therapist, I would say it is related to social language or pragmatic language skills. You would work on what to do if “you forget your wallet” or “what to do if you are home alone after school” I work on these skills, as well as many more, with students in small groups.
