What Are the Implications for Psychotherapy of Quay’s Work on Family Recollections?

Question by Tabbitha: What are the implications for psychotherapy of Quay’s work on family recollections?

Best answer:

Answer by GirlsAreStupid!ThrowRocksAtThem!
Within the psychotherapeutic community there has been some discussion of empirically-based psychotherapy, e.g.[13]

Virtually no comparisons of different psychotherapies with long follow-up times have been carried out.[14] The Helsinki Psychotherapy Study[15] is a randomized clinical trial, in which patients are monitored for 12 months after the onset of study treatments, of which each lasted approximately 6 months. The assessments are to be completed at the baseline examination and during the follow-up after 3, 7, and 9 months and 1, 1.5, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 years. The final results of this trial are yet to be published since follow-up evaluations will continue up to 2009.

There is considerable controversy over which form of psychotherapy is most effective, and more specifically, which types of therapy are optimal for treating which sorts of problems.[16]

Idea for a Novel, Need to Know if It’s a Good One or Not?

Question by Heisenberg: Idea for a novel, need to know if it’s a good one or not?
I thought this up, and was wondering if it even sounds like a good idea.

To sum it up…

The novel follows a character named Taylor Mars, a nerdy white collar computer programmer in near-future United States. He graduated college with medial grades, and landed a very lucky job at a close friend’s company. His friend, Hughes, is far more successful than he is, having inherited the company from his father. Not only this, but Hughes has a beautiful wife whom Taylor envies.

Taylor’s personal life is a solitary one. He has no wife. He also has no girlfriend. He spends time reading and programming a videogame that he fears he will never be able to sell in his off time. He watches television often, as well. Bear in mind, this is the distant future…

How Can I Turn This From Psychology to Anthropology?

Question by Torn Wings: How can I turn this from psychology to anthropology?
I’m supposed to write a research paper on aspects of culture. How can i turn—– Mental health. Looking for: misdiagnoses, “treatments”, how society treats you when they know it.—- Into anthropology thesis? Or can you give me other culture aspects to look at

Answer by mdp
The subject seems more like a sociology or psychology topic than one of anthropology. In Anthropology there is the field of ethnography, in which a person observes a culture. It is possible to observe a mental hospital (though HIPPA laws would make this difficult).

Defaulting on Car Loans in NC?

Question by ~*Live, Love and Blessed Be*~: Defaulting on car loans in NC?
My boyfriend has two loans, a car loan for $ 27k for a car worth about $ 8k, and an $ 11k personal loan that was taken out to pay off another car loan. After a series of heart attacks, he is now out of work and cannot afford to pay them. We need options, to start over, and begin rebuilding credit. What are our options? If he defaults, can they garnish his wages or seize future property? I understand this will negatively affect his credit, so I don’t need a billion affirmations about that. We’re simply looking for an option that will allow us to dig out of this hole.
Thanks for your response, CatDad.
He’s also a Disabled Veteran, after 20 years of honorable service in the Navy, with a service-connected disability of 30%. Don’t know if that opens any options.

He filed Chapter 7 after he left his wife in January of 2004. I’m not sure if you can file Chapter 7 again so soon. Again- we’re totally clueless when it comes to this. We’ve considered credit counseling, however, I’m not sure they’ll be able to help- not much help for $ 40,000 in auto loans. :/
