Question by A.F.: help with career search?
I don’t know what i want to be. I here’s waht i like. I like music but thats hard to go into. I like psychology and criminal stuff. I thought about forensic psychology but im not sure if thats for me. I like figuring things out. any sugestions?

I am a Law Enforcement Victim’s Advocate…it kind of combines the psychology with law enforcement…you can also get degrees in victimization that will teach you how to help crime victims. I respond to the scene of crimes such as domestics, assaults, etc…and work with the victim, making sure they are safe and provide various services, depending on the crime…I also do crisis intervention and on-scene “counseling” to find out what happened and the best way to move forward…it can be a stressful job, but is quite rewarding in many ways.

I have to issues. One is just generallly deciding. How do you decide what career path to take?

Also, how much should salary be a factor? I want to do counseling, however, I live in NYC and that doesn’t pay much. Well, that’s unless 40,000 isn’t much. I want to be happy, however, I don’t want my quality of life to be on the line.

You don’t need to worry about that until you’re older 😉
16 is for school, not careers.

Really?!?!

You go to school till 18.
You then go to university or college to go for your career.

You don’t run away at 16 and work a billion part time jobs for minimum wage. You apparently need more school, Or you’d know that.

Question by nancycarol003: Concerning Consumer Credit counseling–does it help or hurt–effect credit rating?
I have to do something, can’t afford the interest payments, price of gas and keep up on other bills.

It should help. It shows you’re aware of the problem and are taking steps to do something about it, and they may be able to get your interest rates reduced.

Don’t do this so you can go buy more stuff, though. The idea is to get rid of the debt, not get more junk.

Question by LORELI: Help with a tough work situation, please!?
I work in a very small clinic. There are four of us total, the mother and practice manager/owner, the daughter and the vet, and a totally unrelated vet tech, and me a totally unrelated vet tech.
The mother and the daughter have been fighting CONSTANTLY for the past six months and dragging myself and the other technician into the mix. It’s exhausting, physically and emotionally. Well, to make a long story short, last night they had “family counseling.” Today, the mother called in sick and the daughter came into work just screaming at myself and the other tech. In front of a client. I mean screaming, slamming doors, “F you! I hate you!” We (myself and the technician) were stunned and had absolutely no idea what was going on. We didn’t scream back, we simply apologized to the client, rescheduled them, and closed the clinic for the rest of the day. We were able to contact all of our clients and reschedule due to “an emergency at the clinic.”
Now we are supposed to have a meeting
to discuss what happened today. I am dreading going. This is not the first time a situation like this has happened within the clinic, and both times myself and the other technician have just shrugged it off and it improved…for a while.
