Looking for Reassurance… Will the Psychiatric Treatment Center Help Me?
Question by Exhilarating, isn’t it?: Looking for reassurance… will the psychiatric treatment center help me?
I’ll keep this as short as possible. Due to abuse and other unfortunate events in my life I’ve developed anxiety, OCD, and depression. I tried battling this on my own for nearly two years. It’s done nothing but get worse. It is ruining my college classes, I can hardly function some days when I have a little girl to raise, I am mentally incapable of properly raising a kid in the condition im in, its ruining my relationships, and my future career as a nurse. It is ruining everything!
Ive been trying therapy (CBT) for months with little progress. Im too scared to take medication (one of my phobias) for fear they will make me worse because some have in the past. Im too afraid to take them on my own, especially when I have a kiddo with me.
I cant live like this anymore. Something has to change. As a last resort Im considering checking myself in to a mental health facility so they can try to find the right medication for me and ill have their help 24/7 if I need it. Im so scared that maybe it will make me worse somehow. I need encouragement that this can/will help me live a normal life. Anybody with a similar experience?

i can relate but i don’t have a kid to bring up (mine died), but i was in foster homes abuse etc etc i have bipolar, ocd, ptsd, bpd and self harm. i too have gone through various counselling “courses” to no help. BUT dont give up hope if you can get over your phobis of meds you CAN be helped. im on a bucket load of meds a day but without them i would be able to run my shop and lead a “normal” life. come on girl if i can do it so can you! i thought i was a lost cause but now im ok 80% of the time and have a few probs the rest of it, go and speak with your doctor and sort of some meds, it may take time to find the right ones/combo for you, but it will help you loads. things always seem worse when your down but pretty soon you will be fine again i promise
