Jehovah’s Witnesses: Do You Ever Get Tired of Punching the Time Clock?
Question by Rustic B: Jehovah’s Witnesses: do you ever get tired of punching the time clock?
I know that you guys all struggle with the demands on your time needed to qualify as a “publisher.” Many of you must limit yourself to part-time employment for this purpose. Anyway, if you don’t keep up with your expected quota, you will get into trouble with elders. First, if you fail to report for one month, they label you “irregular.” Then, if you fail to report further, you get labeled “inactive” and get some SERIOUS spiritual counseling from the elders. Of course, if do 50+ hours of witnessing per week, then you get to be an “Auxiliary Pioneer.”
Everyone notices the debates you guys have about counting family Bible studies and Yahoo-Answers time when you punch the clock in the Kingdom Hall.
Anyway, I’m going to propose a Biblical solution to your problems about counting your witnessing time and punching the clock. It’s found in Matthew 6:1, which says,
““Take good care not to practice YOUR righteousness in front of men in order to be observed by them; otherwise YOU will have no reward with YOUR Father who is in the heavens” (New World Translation).
So you just go ahead and continue your witnessing activity, but stop worrying about making it to the next level or getting demoted by the elders. If you are doing this for Jehovah God, then he will reward you in the afterlife. You don’t need to worry about the rewards of humans.”
So Conundrum: When you report your Yahoo-Answers witnessing time, do you have a way of subtracting the questions/comments you make about basketball? Also, I honestly don’t know the answer, but if you did not something unethical like reported “witnessing time” when you were actually posting about the Chicago Bulls, would there be any way of knowing about that? Are your elders pretty easy when it comes to reporting your web-witnessing hours? Or are they really strict? (I’ve heard that circuit overseers really hate Myspace. It’s of the Devil… Is that true or is it just a rumor?)
