Question by Jon R: Is it normal to grieve over a daughter getting married?
My friend says she is grieving over her daughter who is getting married next month. She feels a “loss”, as if their mother/daughter relationship will change after she’s married. Is this normal? What advice would you give her? Thanks, a lot.

That is not normal! She should be thrilled for her daughter’s happiness starting this new chapter of her life!

I can only hope this mother hasn’t actually said this to her engaged daughter- that would almost certainly cause change in their relationship.
