Illinois Gender Advocates Be-All 2010 Episode 13 – Latino, Transgender, HIV/AIDS – Illinois Gender Advocates filmed a series of interviews with attendees and presenters in 2010 at Be-All held in suburban Chicago, the largest transgender conference in the Midwest. In episode 13, Jubi Ducher interviews Carlo Chavez in particular about the Latino and transgender communities in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago and some of the challenges they face in dealing with substance abuse and sexually transmitted diseases including HIV/AIDS. Carlo discusses his experience reaching out to and building trust with both communities through the Renz Addiction Counseling Center based in Elgin, IL.
