How Do You Tell Coworkers That Someone Close to You Died? Do You Just Not Tell Them?
Question by Superman: How do you tell coworkers that someone close to you died? Do you just not tell them?
Some coworkers don’t know how to react so maybe it’s better not to tell them. What would you say instead? Would you instead say something like the following? “A family emergency has occurred, ill have to miss work for a few days.”

I’d probably say ‘I’m going to a funeral, i’ll probably miss work for a few days,”
That way you’re not directly telling them how close the relative is – so they won’t feel so ‘awkward’ – so they wouldn’t ask who it was or anything – they’d pretty much leave you alone.
