How Did the Patriarchs Grief in the Scripture?
Question by Cat Friendly: How did the patriarchs grief in the Scripture?
I’ve been reading the scriptures and was wondering what was the process the patriarchs followed (especially concerning death of a spouse) . It says that they “grieved” but for how long? What did it entail? (Tear their garments, and then what?)

In Jewish culture today they are allowed a year of grieving. 1 week when no comfort is possible, one month when they live in grief, they can grieve in a normal way for a year, and after that the person is dead so they are to move n with their lives and it is a sin to grieve. We all could learn a lot from them. As far as the patriarchs goes, I really don’t know how much f that teaching was followed by them.
