Question by low_angel1622: How are Oliver Cromwell and Maximilien Robspierre similar?
(I tried explaining myself, but the textbook we use for history is not very thorough at all…)
and do you think the French Revolution was worth it in the end?

They modernised their countries, bringing them out of Medieval absolute monarchies, and into a humane future, with no more church domination, and no more slow painful executions. Cromwell’s England reverted back to this after his death, however, while Robespierre’s fellow Revolutionaries succeeded, apart from a few years when two kings were brought back into power.
