Help With My Debate Please! Why Can One Not Feel Sympathy Till One Experiences Grief?
Question by x3kissmeintherain: Help with my debate please! Why can one not feel sympathy till one experiences grief?
I’m debating this:
“Why people are not truly ‘humanized’ or capable of sympathy for others until they are deeply touched by grief.”
I have the idea that there’s a difference between hearing/reading about a feeling versus actuallyexperiencing it, which allows you to relate to others better…i need more though!! Please help!

Yes you’re right to a certain extent. I can feel bad for a person that lost their mother, though I have not lost mine. Your point is that even though I know this must hurt that person, I do not know how much it really hurts until I go through it. So going through the emotion will make you a better judge, but it is not required to go through the emotion in order for you to feel the other persons’ sadness or anger.
What do you think? Answer below!
When You’ve Lost Your Mother – This is a perfect sentiment to share with anyone who’s lost their mother, either recently or years ago. It expresses a mother’s endless, undying love. Music is Lullaby for a Soul’s Journey by Magical Strings from the cd Bell off the Ledge.
