Probably a Pointless Post (See Inside for Why That Might Be):Sister-in-Law Is a Hoarder?

Question by Sean 🙂: Probably a pointless post (see inside for why that might be):Sister-in-Law is a hoarder?
My sister-in-law is a hoarder, and it has greatly affected my older brother. Two situations that make this even worse are the fact that she hasn’t truly, consistently sought out help, and, they have a baby who is jsut about to turn 10 months.

My older brother protects her when the subject is brought up (i haven’t personally spoken to him about it just yet, my dad has though). But he is embarrassed about it, upset about it; all the unfortunate results a spouse or relative would feel relating to a hoarder’s actions.

What Are the Rights of a Suicidal Person?

Question by musicpainter22: What are the rights of a suicidal person?
My boyfriend has never really come out and said it, but I kind of think he’s suicidal. He’s been dropping subtle hints. He tried one time and ended up in a mental hospital. In the subtle conversations we’ve had, he says that if he ever had to go back, he’d kill himself when he got out because of the memories he’d have with him. I’m not sure what that means… Although he’s said before that he’d be willing to do other things. He would try counseling, meds, group therapy; “ANYTHING but being admitted again.” (His words, not mine.)

If he told a doctor this, could he refuse to be admitted? He’s over 18, but I’ve heard that suicidal people are forced to get treatment. Does he have any rights as far as choosing what and how treatments are given? He’s willing to cooperate otherwise, and I don’t want to see him die because of stupid laws.
