FOCUS ON THE FAMILY: Grieving friend needs your presence, and a listening ear

Add to that the loss and grief associated with the death of your friend's husband, and the picture becomes very bleak indeed. In a general sense, it's important that you simply make yourself available to your friend whenever she may need you.

Short, helpful reflections for grieving parents., December 7, 1998
    By A Customer
This review is from: An Empty Cradle, a Full Heart: Reflections for Mothers and Fathers after Miscarriage, Stillbirth, or Infant Death (Paperback)

As grieving parents, both my husband and I found these reflections very timely. It’s the kind of book you can pick up and read for one minute or one hour, depending on your mood and current needs. It is definitely a Christian-based book…each reflection is followed by a scripture pertaining to the idea presented in the reflection. However, as non-Christians, we loved the stories themselves. They put so eloquently into words the many conflicting feelings we are having after the death of our son. I highly recommend this book to others who have suffered a similar loss.

God sent this book for my broken heart!, November 2, 1998

This review is from: An Empty Cradle, a Full Heart: Reflections for Mothers and Fathers after Miscarriage, Stillbirth, or Infant Death (Paperback)

I had been searching and searching for a book of bible verses pertaining to my loss but I also wanted personal stories in it. I’d even been considering writing one myself if I couldn’t find one. This book is EXACTLY what I’d prayed for and I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking comfort in God’s word.

Pain and Healing, June 3, 2002
    By A Customer
This review is from: An Empty Cradle, a Full Heart: Reflections for Mothers and Fathers after Miscarriage, Stillbirth, or Infant Death (Paperback)

We have lost 3 babies in our family. Our dreams of great futures were gone with them. We were desperate to find comfort. This book is healing and helpful to ease the pain.
I am grateful that I discovered this book. I also recommend Write From Your Heart, A Healing Grief Journal.
It really is necessary to “work” through grief.
May you all find peace and comfort.

Recepient was happy with the basket-but another thing regarding the supposed enclosed note., November 15, 2011

I received an email from Amazon stating the recepient was happy with the basket but they did not know whom it came from. So I am very pleased that the recepient was happy but not happy that they did not receive the gift note. This was for a death in their family who was very close. I mean I can easily contact her but the note was of been much more personal. Not knocking Amazon I am definitely a fan but not happy about this incident.

Although the product is very nice and it was delivered very quickly, there was no Gift Message sent to accompany the basket, therefore the receiver was unaware who had sent it and had to contact Amazon directly to obtain this information. I had read other reviews that this had been an issue with this item/seller however I had hoped after numerous complaints this would have been corrected…needless to say it has not and you should be aware of this before placing your order. The last thing someone needs after losing a family member (in this case her mom) is to try and chase down who had sent a basket to them. I would not order this again until there was a guarantee that a gift message will be sent.

It looks so nice and the concept is good. But in both cases that I send this sympathy gift basket I never heard from the receiving party that they liked it or not and I didn’t feel it was a good idea to bug them about it. Would I recommend it? Yes, but it would be good to find out from the company when it was send and when they could expect it to arrive. I think death is such a touchy subject that it is not this companies fault if the parties I sent these gifts too never thanked me for them.
