Caught My Dad Watching Porn. What to Do?
Question by Ed L: Caught my Dad watching porn. What to do?
So I walked downstairs into my basement and found my Dad watching porn. I know he knows I saw him because he acted really awkward when I asked him the question I went downstairs to see him for. It has been really awkward for me too. I haven’t been able to take my mind off of it because I know he is addicted. It hurts. Things have been really awkward between me and him too. We used to be close but now I keep my distance. I have yet to look my father in the eye since this has happened. What should I do? Should I ignore it and maybe time will heal? I am too ashamed to talk to him about it…and don’t have enough guts to do it. Its really hard to talk to a parent about those kinds of things. I know if I do, he would just make up some kind of story or lie to cover it up…and it would just make me feel worse. And yes, I have watched porn a few times when I was younger but never made a habit of it so don’t flame me for asking a question like this……
OK..I am sorry I didn’t make this clear. This is the first time I caught him in the act. I have found many MANY traces on the computer….like internet history and even windows of porn he minimized but forgot to exit out of. Heck…the computer has crashed 2 times now from all the trojans on it and there is not much i can do about that. Its only a year old. An i AM old enough to understand an addiction. I am 19. I am around it all day whether it is friends who chew tobacco or smoke. Soo…yeah i have found porn on the computer and i know it has been going on for a while….this is just the first time i have caught him watching…sorry i didnt make that clear.

Can You Give Me Some Words of Encouragement. I’m Facing Depression?
Question by Bri: Can you give me some words of encouragement. I’m facing depression?
I was engaged to him, he was my world. Then one day we got into a terrible argument & he hit me. I changed my number & I moved 2 hours away, all by myself, found a great place to live & an awesome job. He would send me e-mails apologizing & trying to work things out. I eventually stopped replying. I went to counseling & did everything I was told to do, I grieved, I got a new look, a complete make-over. I did things I never knew I could, I got an amazing new job, joined yoga & have even started to learn about spiritualism, light & love. I didn’t contact him, if he would e-mail me I wouldn’t reply, deleted him from all social networks. It’s been 4 months since the breakup & I am still hurting, not a day goes by that I don’t think of him. We hadn’t spoken in nearly 2 months, my birthday was 4 days ago & he e-mails me & says “Happy birthday I hope all is well & enjoy. Later” I just replied with a simple thanks. The day before that his friend writes me on facebook asking me if I have seen him or heard from her, or do I know a number that he can be reached at. I just simply said “No, I moved & we haven’t spoken”. It’s been four months & I feel as though I should be over him by now. I’m not even ready to date, but I do enjoy going out with girlfriends & hanging out. Some days are better than others, today was so hard I don’t know why I kept thinking about him & how poorly he treated me I couldn’t even sleep, I woke up with a rapid heart beat & just angry. I don’t really have any one to talk to about this, so any opinions or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
