Does It Seem to You the “treatment” for Mental Illness Is Just Making the Person Sleep?
Question by Gabesky: Does it seem to you the “treatment” for mental illness is just making the person sleep?
A friend of mine pointed something out to me, the intended effect of most psychiatric drugs is to sedate the person which of course will make them sleepy all the time. It is true in my case at least. I’m on 4 medications, 3 of which are sedatives. It makes me wonder if that is the way psychiatrists think it “fixes” the person, just putting them to sleep so they don’t have to deal with the issues so much. Just thinking of that makes me want to stop my meds, i don’t want to sleep my life away. Your thoughts on this? Thanks.

I don’t think that is the intended treatment at least it shouldn’t be. They are supposed to sedate you enough for you to be able to think past your problem and learn to deal with it and the situations around you. Sleeping is like avoiding and doesn’t help anything…unless you are tired of course, lol.
