Is This Been Bridezilla?

Question by tomi: is this been bridezilla?
My marriage is 5 months ago and told i was presented with the bill ! I am bringing only 10% of the guest and she is bringing 90% and i am paying for the majority of the reception + ofc the honeymoon. She gave me a nice hefty estimate and any attempts to get someone else to do it cheaper ie photographer, family member to do the decoration etc has been met with “they will do a bad job and its all about the bride” and “my friend got married for same cost “.
Surely this is getting out of hand.I am expected to take my whole savings and dump it on 3 hrs !
I tried to talk to her about reducing the bill and get the silent treatment and last night was told when i am ready to do it her way we can get married.
I love her deeply and i think she does too but this shows me a terrible side of her and i am scared my whole life will be like this.My mom is not happy with way she is treating the money side but likes her so much and says she will return to her old self after the wedding.
What do i do ?
I will like to add that though i cannot directly prove it i feel she is under pressure from her mother.
She normally dresses elegant but simple and does not go around tossing money around.
However her mother loves to spend and has once hinted that a grand wedding is the ONLY way to go.
She actually once said we have a comprimise and a medium size not too expensive wedding .
Now all that talk is gone and for some reason she keeps saying this is her decision alone even without me asking which indicates her mother’s involvement.

Why Do Psychologists Try to Imply That People Are Powerless to Their Emotions?

Question by Jamie: Why do psychologists try to imply that people are powerless to their emotions?
Like telling a person they have “anxiety” or “depression” and need medication, but all they have to to is stop and look at the world in a better way? They find physical evidence of depression in a depressed persons brain, but how do they know than the abnormalities are causing the emotions, instead of the other way around? If they can’t fully understand how the brain works, how do they know that there isn’t something in there that makes them rewrite everything?
