Where Can I Find Christian Counseling / Counselors in Springfield Missouri?

Question by Cassie: Where can I find Christian counseling / counselors in Springfield Missouri?
I’m trying to gather resources for individual, marriage, and family counselors / counseling in the Springfield Missouri area. I’m particularly looking for professional counselors who practice from a Christian perspective and incorporate Christian spirituality into their counseling.

Check the yellow pages and look for the fish symbol for starters. Second, call some of the larger churches and ask if they have counseling or if they could recommend some in the area. Third, do a Google search for “Christian counselor” and then “Springfield, MO.” That should get you started. Finally go the following site and put in your zip code:

What’s the Difference Between a “marriage” and a “Civil Partnership”?

Question by tangerine: What’s the difference between a “marriage” and a “civil partnership”?
I know that some would argue that “marriage” denotes religious connotations, but that isn’t always true. After all, there are plenty of people who are married by justices of the peace and not in a church or other religious institution. Is there really any difference between a “marriage” and a “civil partnership”, since in both cases, relationships are given an official status by the government?

Yeah, it’s just a name. It helps appease the religious right and gives homosexuals what they want.

Dealing With Dad Who Has Anger Management Issues?

Question by Lynn: Dealing With Dad Who Has Anger Management Issues?
… let’s just say he has MAJOR anxiety, OCD, paranoia, and anger management problems.
He will explode in anger every time there is a little disagreement. (E.g. I don’t hold the pencil his way, or I don’t use the right spoon to scoop rice)

For example, just a few minutes ago I was going to wash my hands in the kitchen. He said “No go wash your hands at the bathroom” and I thought “whatever, same thing” in my head. Then he suddenly started following me and SCREAMING at me, “WHY DON’T YOU EVER LISTEN TO ME WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU” Seriously his rage was SCARY, he was so LOUD, his tone honestly sounded like he wanted to smash my head on the counter or something.
(Funny story, he actually said that once… “YOU’RE SUCH A DISGRACEFUL CHILD, YOU DESERVE TO HAVE YOUR HEAD SMASHED AGAINST THE COUNTER”)
…..and yes unfortunately a stupid argument like this happens virtually every single day…

Can Anyone Explain the LOGIC Here? You Give Loaded Weapons to the Mental Patient?

Question by Weasel McWeasel: Can anyone explain the LOGIC here? You give loaded weapons to the mental patient?
Okay, the tragic shooting at the Gun range in Texas, is of course , tragic. The man leaves behind a wife and 2 kids. He was there to participate in THERAPY with another soldier with PTSD.
So you KNEW this soldier was mentally unstable, and you put loaded weapons in his hands, as part of a “Therapy”. ???
Okay………..someone tell me……….what was SUPPOSE to happen?

If the guy qualified for the Seal assisted therapy…..one assumes his problems were severe and garnered the Seal’s attention. So why would you give an unstable person loaded weapons, and then turn your back on him? What the heck kind of THERAPY is that? Am I the last SANE person on the planet?
