Hi Brittany! Here is information about becoming a substance abuse counselor. According to this site http://www.guidetoonlineschools.com/degrees/human-services/substance-abuse:

“A certificate in alcohol and drug counseling takes the least amount of time to earn, but these programs are generally only open to individuals who are already certified counselors. These certificates simply provide more specialized training and information to those who are interested in working specifically with people who are suffering from drug and alcohol addiction. While earning these certificates, students will study proven rehabilitation techniques and explore solutions to the challenges they will face as counselors.

Anyone Familiar With Benefits Under Chapter 31 Vocational Rehab?

Question by TheMatador: Anyone familiar with benefits under Chapter 31 Vocational Rehab?
To clarify, I would like to know whether Chapter 30 benefits have to be used in conjunction with Chapter 31. Also, is getting the allowance for subsistance while you train automatic or do you have to qualify for it?

Answer by thelightedtorch
If you get one, you don’t get the other. You have 4 total years. So if you use Ch. 30 for 2 years, you can get Voc Rehab for the remaining 2. Also, I’m pretty sure the subsistence allowance is automatic. Also you have to be disabled to use Voc Rehab. At least 30%, I think.

Getting Help With Disability and Medical Care?

Question by Travis: Getting help with disability and medical care?
So I applied for disability last year and was initially denied because of lack of medical evidence proving my case. The problem is, even at the time of my accident I didn’t have insurance coverage and access to treatments I need to get well, as well as the MRI’s and X-rays necessary to prove my case. So I appear to be caught in a catch 22. I filed a lawsuit against the insurance company of the guy who hit me (hit and run) and was able to get some initial care on “leans” but after the case settled I was left still needing treatment and financial help. Any ideas on what I can do to get access (with no insurance) to see the doctors I need to see and get all the tests done necessary to prove my disability valid?
